The Hollow Form: Concepts

 Personally I struggled with this at first, given more free range of concept I was put at a bit of a creative stump.

    


but playing with concepts shown in class and the idea of how to have sharp edges without creating ledges I ended up creating these lil cube plants? trees? bushes? I'm not too sure but I like the little guy personally. These first two were created with basic lofting mechanics and 45 degree angle cubes


Getting a little more comfortable I tried to create some sort of vase using the curve and taper tools, first creating a basic 2D shape, extruding and tapering. This felt one felt more comfortable and natural, 


The hollow form I landed on was a bit odd but something I thought would just be interesting to print and possibly help understand the printing process not being able to use supports, some of the process in making it is shown below,

The Coat hook: Bristle Block Concept

 This process felt very comfortable for me, although I didn't make something that I would consider "artsy" I feel like when I finally did decide on the concept it was a smooth and natural creation. Not just the bristle design but some other designs I did on the side also felt quite natural at this point thanks to the classes. finding out the shape of the "wings" and the size of the bristle tips were important, I needed it to be strong enough to not get pulled out by gravity and small enough to feel like it was still a "bristle" coming up with this shape, I thought the stress points on it were pretty solid it would be a good contender for weight. The Voxel: Pan Friend Gnocchi

 Our first assignment is a voxel based basic model to represent our summer, I decided to create a model of mushroom parmesan gnocchi being pan fried as that is what I was doing most of the summer! Despite having never used this software before I do know about voxels and have a very basic knowledge of 3D software but none the less, I can't say I know what I'm doing just yet.
